Hodson Parents & Guardians,
Due to an extremely high number of teacher and staff absences, Hodson Elementary will temporarily move to distance learning beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 11 for the remainder of the week (Jan. 11-14). This decision was not made lightly and while we prefer to continue in-person instruction, we must consider the ability to continue to serve students safely and equitably.
Students in grades 1-5 will be given a Chromebook to take home with them today. Teachers of Pre-K and kindergarten students will reach out to parents directly regarding device needs. Please communicate with your child’s teacher if there is an absolute need for a Wifi hotspot.
Students will log into Google Classroom and receive instruction from OPS teachers beginning on Tuesday morning. Your students have been using Chromebooks and devices in the classroom throughout the year, but should you have questions about logging into the Chromebook or Google Classroom, please reference this login guide. We know this is a quick transition and should you or your student experience issues with these processes, teachers will work with you to get your needs met.
The Owasso Child Nutrition team will set up a drive-thru to pick up meals at the bus loop each day beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 11. Meals will be available from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The district will continue to assess the staffing situation at Hodson throughout the week and communicate decisions regarding the week of Jan. 19-21 as soon as we can. As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, Jan. 17 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day or Tuesday, Jan. 18 for district-wide teacher professional development.
