Student Technology User Agreement
Google Workspace Account
Owasso Public Schools will provide all students in grades K-12 with a Google Workspace for Education account. Google Workspace, formerly G-Suite, is a brand of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed by Google.
This service is available through an agreement between Google and Owasso Public Schools. Google Workspace for Education is intended exclusively for educational use. The teachers of your student may be using Google Workspace Apps for lessons, assignments, and communication. The tools available through Google Workspace for Education will allow students to collaboratively create, edit, and share school-related projects. The services are entirely online and are available 24/7 with internet access.
Student accounts may include Chrome Browser, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Classroom, Gmail, Sites, Calendar, Blogger, YouTube, Maps, Earth, Meet and other applications that will benefit the learning experience.
-
Students in grades 9-12 will have email access to send and receive email outside of the owassops.org domain. However, the email account will identify the sender as an Owasso High School Student.
-
Students in grades K-8 will have email turned on, but will only be able to send or receive emails from students/teachers within owassops.org domain.
Although Workspace can be accessed outside of school, any use of the account on the owassops.org domain is bound by the same rules and guidelines as use of any student account on the Owasso Public Schools network. These accounts are intended for educational purposes whether or not the student is at school.
School Responsibility
Google Workspace student accounts created by the school district will be managed at the district level. Both on and off campus, student Workspace accounts will be monitored and filtered for appropriate use. Digital citizenship instruction is included as part of introducing new web-based tools. Student accounts can be accessed by Owasso Public School’s Technology Administrators at any time.
Parent/Guardian Responsibility
Parents assume responsibility for the supervision of Internet use outside of school. Parents are encouraged to discuss rules and expectations for using Internet-based tools, including Google Workspace Apps. Parents should report any evidence of cyberbullying or other inappropriate use to the school immediately.
Google Workspace for Education is compliant with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). You can find the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service here: Google Workspace Terms of Service.
