Future Chefs Challenge

It’s never too early to teach students how to make healthy food choices, build essential cooking skills, and enjoy a little friendly competition. Owasso students rose to the challenge with inventive and delicious culinary creations. Check out the highlights from the competition below!

The national initiative, established in 2010, was created to get students thinking about making healthy food choices while also encouraging them to be active and creative in the kitchen. Owasso students are joining over 2,500 other students representing more than 1,400 Sodexo-served school sites in 30 states nationally.

One student from each of Owasso’s nine elementary schools was selected to compete in the district Future Chefs Challenge on March 5 at Morrow Elementary. Students were paired with an Owasso Child Nutrition employee to create their submitted recipe and present it to a panel of judges.

The winning student went home with a prize package and will be considered for a regional finalist award. Selected regional finalists will vie to become one of five national finalists competing for the public’s online vote.
