Welcome back to another school year! I hope your summer was filled with relaxation and opportunities for adventure. As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we are grateful to have you on our team. This year, we are continuing our theme, “Be Your Best.” It is a reminder that when we all show up as our best selves, great things happen. When students bring their best, they dream bigger; when teachers do, classrooms are energized; and when families bring their best—whether through supporting your student's activities or partnering with us throughout the year—we create a truly unbeatable school community.

Back to School: The first day of school for students is Thursday, August 13th. If your child will be riding a bus this school year and you need to know what bus they ride, please check the route information page on our website. Transportation services are available for students in grades K-12. A “practice run” for buses will take place on Wednesday, August 12th, which means you will see buses running through our neighborhoods the day before school starts. As in previous years, your patience and understanding for the first few weeks of school is greatly appreciated as we iron out the details of our routes for another school year. 

The bell schedules will be changed slightly with the extension of the school day by one minute and can be accessed here. Please note, for school meal information, parents can access school menus and add money to their student’s meal account on the District’s website through the Child Nutrition page. Parents are encouraged to complete and submit a free & reduced lunch application regardless of income, prior to the start of the school year to ensure that there are no gaps in meal benefits for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. 

Important Election Date, August 25th: As we prepare for the new school year, we also want to highlight the importance of the upcoming primary run-off election on August 25. This ballot includes key decisions regarding the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Question 844, a measure with significant implications for school funding and local resources such as police, fire & emergency services. If State Question 844 were to be approved, Owasso Public Schools could lose up to $2.5 million annually in reimbursements from the state. Your voice matters in shaping the future of public education in our state, so we encourage you to stay informed and please make plans to go vote.

Continuous Strategic Improvement (CSI): Our District remains committed to continuous improvement, focusing on enhancing our Professional Learning Communities with a continued emphasis on literacy, math, and new Art “Specials” at all nine elementary sites. We are also prioritizing a safe and nurturing environment by installing safety film covering at entrances of each school site. We are incredibly grateful for the passage of the 2025 Student Investment Plan last fall, which is funding significant facility enhancements across the District.
