- Section 1 | General
1.05 Circulation of Petitions and Distribution of Information by School Employees
- School District personnel shall not circulate any petition on any topic during school hours, at school events, or on school grounds and in school facilities, when employees are performing services for the school district, except as otherwise provided for herein.
- This policy does not in any way limit the right of school personnel to participate in petitioning activities that are consistent with this section.
- School personnel may circulate petitions within the employee lounge during those periods when the employee is not scheduled to work so long as the activity does not interfere with the operation of the school, or hinder another employee in the performance of his/her assigned duties.
- Teachers may not distribute any literature or solicit for any other cause in working areas during working time except for school-sponsored programs approved by the building principal and/or Superintendent.
- “Working time” includes working time of both the teacher/faculty members soliciting or distributing and the teacher/faculty members to whom the solicitation distribution is directed. “Working time” does not include a teacher’s meal times, or other periods when the teacher has been released from the performance of his/her work, whether such periods are paid for or not.
