The following information is provided as a reference for parents and students. Should you have any questions or need assistance regarding a Chromebook:

Receiving Your Chromebook

Students will receive a new Chromebook and charger as follows :
  • 5th-grade students will receive a new Chromebook and charger and will use the same device through the 8th grade.

  • 9th-grade students will receive a new Chromebook and charger and will use the same device through the 12th grade.

Students should never leave their Chromebook unattended. Students are responsible for keeping track of the Chromebook they are issued. The device issued and the charger are the student's responsibility. Please handle them with care.
 
Content Filter
A content filter is in place. All Chromebooks, regardless of physical location (in or out of school), will have all internet activity protected and monitored by the district. Complete information regarding use and responsibilities can be found in our Student Technology Use Agreement.

Tips for keeping track of your device:
  • Take a picture of the asset sticker* and model/serial number tag

  • Put a sticker with your name on it on the top

  • Put masking tape or colorful tape on the cord with your name on it.

    *All Chromebooks will be labeled with an Owasso Public Schools asset tag, barcode, and model name plates (examples below).

    These tags provide information that allows us to determine the name of the student to which the specific Chromebook has been assigned. Labels may not be modified or tampered with in any way.

Student Technology Insurance Program

The cost for coverage under the Student Technology Insurance Program is $25. The insurance program is voluntary, but families are highly encouraged to participate. If insurance is not purchased, parents/guardians will be responsible for the full cost of any repairs or replacements of Chromebooks or chargers.
 

Using Your Chromebook at School

Students are expected to bring a fully charged Chromebook to school every day and to bring their Chromebook to all classes. They may bring their charge cord to school and leave it in their backpack in case of emergency.
 

Please note the following:

  • There are no loaner Chromebooks to use if the Chromebook is left at home.

  • There are no loaner charge cords to borrow if the cord is left at home or lost.

  • Be mindful of letting other students borrow charge cords. These are often misplaced and the student is responsible for paying for a replacement.

  • Backgrounds and themes: Inappropriate backgrounds or themes may not be used.

  • Sound: Sounds should be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from the teacher.

  • Headphones may be used at the discretion of the teacher.

Using Your Chromebook at Home

Students may use their Chromebook at home. A WiFi connection will be required for the majority of Chromebook use. Students are bound by the Owasso Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy (Acceptable Use of Electronic and Digital Communications Devices 1.76) and all other guidelines wherever they use their Chromebook.
