These tags provide information that allows us to determine the name of the student to which the specific Chromebook has been assigned. Labels may not be modified or tampered with in any way.

Using Your Chromebook at School

Students are expected to bring a fully charged Chromebook to school every day and to bring their Chromebook to all classes. They may bring their charge cord to school and leave it in their backpack in case of emergency.

Please note the following:

  • There are no loaner Chromebooks to use if the Chromebook is left at home.

  • There are no loaner charge cords to borrow if the cord is left at home or lost.

  • Be mindful of letting other students borrow charge cords. These are often misplaced and the student is responsible for paying for a replacement.

  • Backgrounds and themes: Inappropriate backgrounds or themes may not be used.

  • Sound: Sounds should be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from the teacher.

  • Headphones may be used at the discretion of the teacher.

Using Your Chromebook at Home

Students may use their Chromebook at home. A WiFi connection will be required for the majority of Chromebook use. Students are bound by the Owasso Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy (Acceptable Use of Electronic and Digital Communications Devices 1.76) and all other guidelines wherever they use their Chromebook.

Taking Care of Your Chromebook

Troubleshooting Common Chromebook Problems

Sometimes Chromebooks will not work properly. Often a quick reset will fix the problem. Try this first before taking it to the library. Sometimes this is all it needs and it will start working properly again.

Reset the Chromebook

  • Press the Esc+Refresh+Power keys simultaneously and hold for 10 seconds (the refresh button looks like a round arrow on the top row of keys)

  • Press Power again

    • It should say that the OS needs repair or something similar

  • Press Ctrl D and it will take you through several steps, instructing you to push enter or space bar buttons - just follow the directions. It will have to connect to the internet again and the student may have to sign in twice.

If these steps don't work, the student should ask their teacher if they can take their Chromebook to the library for troubleshooting.

Updates

Chromebooks will update automatically.
