Student Clubs/Organizations


Academic Bowl – The Academic Bowl practices Mondays and Thursdays and competes Monday evenings against other area schools in a “Jeopardy” type of game.  Questions range from math, science, history, literature, grammar, and current events to sports, movies, and TV.

Art Club – The Art Club is for students who are interested in the visual arts and art in general.  Activities include museum and art gallery trips, hands on workshops, photo scavenger hunts, informal gatherings, and movies.

Asian American Club - The Asian American Club features music, information, art, and food from Asia.  Members meet twice each month to enjoy interesting cultural activities.  All members must pay a yearly fee of $5.00. 

Expressions, Speech, Drama and Debate Club – The activities of this organization include competitions, festivals, social, and educational opportunities for theater and forensics. 

Family Career and Community Leaders of America – FCCLA is an organization for people who are interested in improving themselves, their schools, and their community while having fun at the same time.  Members are involved in a variety of school and community service activities.  Students can take part in competitions related to chapter activities.  Students are eligible to join if they have ever been enrolled in a Family and Consumer Sciences class grades seven through twelve.  Regular monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month during both lunches.

French Club - The Owasso French Club encourages the practice of the French language and promotes an awareness of French and Francophone cultures. Membership in this club is open to current or former French students as well as other interested students.  We have meetings, movies, food, and other cultural activities.

Future Teachers of America - FTA is for students interested in pursuing a career in education.  Meetings are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 2:30 P.M.  Activities include the pumpkin decoration contest, Christmas present drive, college alumni visiting day, and Teacher Apprentice Day.

Great Books – Great Books meets once a month.  The meetings are centered on the sharing of ideas related to books, poems, and short stories.  Great Books is open to anyone who is interested.  

Imani Multicultural Club - The Imani Multicultural Club sponsors activities that encourage cross-cultural communication and appreciation of a variety of cultures from each continent.  Any student may join the club, which meets twice a month.  A one time membership fee of $5.00 is required. 

Junior Board – This organization plans, organizes, and carries out the Junior-Senior Prom.  All juniors are encouraged to join. The Junior Board meets two to three times a semester as needed. 

National Honor Society – NHS is an organization dedicated to serving the school and community.  Membership is based on scholarship, leadership, character, and service.  Students who have maintained a 3.5 or greater GPA since the ninth grade will receive applications to apply for membership.  Not every one who applies is accepted.  Once inducted, a member pays $5.00 in annually dues and must do 10 hours of service per semester.  Meetings are the first Thursday of every month.  Members must attend meetings or they are required to do three hours of additional service for every meeting missed. 

Native American Student Association (NASA) - NASA is organized by the Owasso Public Schools Indian Education Department.  The purpose of the group is to teach students about American Indian culture and heritage.  Regular meetings and community service projects are scheduled throughout the year. 

Poetry Club – The Poetry Club is for students who enjoy expressing themselves through written poetry.  We have a board of officers, and we meet every other week to share our poetry with the group. 

Political Science Club - This organization discusses and debates current political issues and works on projects and activities that impact the community.  

PROS - Peaceful Resolutions for Owasso Students meets on the third Wednesday of every month.  The goal of this organization is to "silence the violence and increase the peace." Our student mediators work with student disputants to work out issues in a peaceful manner, keeping students out of the principals' offices and out of trouble.  To become a member of this club, students must apply, go through an interview process and five hours of training.

Psychology Club – Membership in this club is open to current psychology students, former psychology students, and other interested students.  Its purpose is to learn more about the practical applications of psychology, to meet professionals in the field, and to provide help with community service projects.  Meetings are held at 7:40 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.  There will be one activity each month which will coincide with events significant to the field of psychology.  There is a $5.00 membership fee.

Senior Board – The Senior Board plans and implements Senior Class activities and decisions affecting the Senior Class.  Meetings are held before and after school.  All seniors are encouraged to join. 

Société Honoraire de Français –This is a "National French Honors Society" sponsored by the AATF (American Association of Teachers of French). Membership is based on scholarship, leadership, character, and service.  In order qualify for SHF, students must be in their third year of French with an "A" average.  They must also have maintained a 3.5 or greater cumulative GPA since the ninth grade.  Once inducted, a member must do 10 hours of service per year.   

Spanish Club -

Student Council – Student Council is an organization with diverse members who are nominated in their third hour class. They do many activities including  but not limited to community projects, school projects, and organizing school events.
